EGAT Mae Moh Visits Hongsa Mine for Knowledge Exchange and Cooperation Enhancement Toward International Mining Standards

 

From June 16–17, 2025, a delegation of executives and officials from the Mine Planning Division of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) – Mae Moh, led by Mr. Suchart Tunkaew, Assistant Governor – Mae Moh Mine (M-MO), visited the lignite mining operations of the Hongsa Thermal Power Plant Project in the Lao PDR. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Kathayuth Chupoon Managing Director of Hongsa Power Company Limited, along with Mr. Jirasak Tipbumroong Deputy Managing Director - Mining, and the company's executive team and staff.

This visit was conducted as part of the technical cooperation framework under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organizations. The objective was to promote the exchange of knowledge in mining engineering, resource management, and the application of technology to enhance operational efficiency.

Both parties also discussed approaches to elevating operational standards in line with ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems), aiming toward sustainable development in the energy and mining sectors.

This study visit marks a significant step in strengthening regional technical cooperation networks and enhancing workforce capacity, paving the way for EGAT and Hongsa Power to achieve sustainable excellence in the future.
